Personal life
Moose Wala stayed in Musa, his hometown, where his fans used to come to see him. He had a strong bond with his grandmother and respected her desire to keep her hair long, which is important in Sikhism. Unfortunately, his father was unable to maintain his hair due to an accident.
Feuds
Moose Wala and Karan Aujla had a bit of a feud. They exchanged jabs through songs, social media and live performances. Some of his songs received flak for promoting violence. According to his friend Ellie Mangat, it all started when a video of Moose Wala targeting Aujla got leaked and Aujla’s team got heated about it. That led to some back and forth on social media. Things cooled down a bit until Aujla dropped a diss track called “Lafafe”, which Moose Walla countered with “Warning Shots”. In an interview, Oujla said he didn’t write “Lafafe” and spilled any beans about their rivalry but had good things to say about Moose Wala’s work. After Moose Wala’s demise, Aujla paid tribute with the song “Maa”.
Legal issues and controversies
At the time of Moose Walla’s death, he was facing some legal trouble for promoting gun use and violence. Two of the charges against him were deemed inappropriate for scenes in his work.
In May 2020, a couple of his videos went viral online: one showing him learning to use an AK-47 with the help of police officers, and another showing him with a personal pistol. Later the concerned officials were suspended. On May 19, he was charged under two sections of the Arms Act. The police tried to find him through raids, but he managed to stay out of sight to avoid arrest. On June 2, the Barnala district court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of the five officers.
On June 6, 2020, he was fined by the police in Nabha for having car windows tinted darker than permitted. Although wanted for the charges, he was released after falsely telling authorities that he was already out on bail. In July, he cooperated with the police investigation and was granted bail. At that time, he released a song called “Sanju”, where he compared himself to actor Sanjay Dutt, who faced legal problems related to the Arms Act. The song drew criticism from Indian sports shooter Awaneeth Sidhu for promoting gun culture, leading to another case against Moose Wala. In an interview, Moose Wala said that some news channels and lawyers have deliberately targeted him.
References to Mai Bhago
In September 2019, Moose Wala’s song “Jatti Jiyon Morah Wargi” created some controversy among Sikh leaders as it contained the name of Mai Bhago, the iconic 17th century Sikh warrior woman. Sikh groups and Akali Dal leaders found the song offensive and demanded its ban. He filed a complaint against Moose Wala in Mansa and Bathinda. Moosewala later expressed regret on social media and appeared before the Sikh religious body Akal Takht in March 2020 to address the issue.
In relation to the Khalistan movement, in December 2020, Moose Wala released a single titled “Punjab: My Motherland” in support of Indian farmers’ protests against the 2020 Indian Agricultural Acts. The song included speeches by traditional Sikh militant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and Khalistan supporter Bharpur Singh Balbir in the late 1980s. Moosewala explained in an interview that Khalistan represented a ‘pure place’ as people of all religions co-existed peacefully during the reign of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
Sidhu Moosewala's mother pregnant at 58
Family sources confirmed to the Tribune that Sidhu Moosewala’s mother Charan Kaur, 58, is expecting a child. Kaur underwent IVF treatment to give birth to the baby, who is due in March. Their only child Sidhu was tragically shot dead in May 2022. It is rare to conceive naturally after age 50, so many women may need fertility assistance. Before planning pregnancy at this age, it is very important that women undergo a thorough health assessment, taking into account any existing medical conditions that may affect pregnancy. Conditions like high blood pressure and gestational diabetes are more common in older mothers, so maintaining a healthy lifestyle is essential to reduce the risks.
Late pregnancy brings with it various health concerns, including osteoporosis, thyroid problems, high blood pressure and diabetes, emphasizes Dr Aruna Kalra. Because it is unlikely to produce viable eggs at this age, donor eggs from a healthy, young donor are often used in IVF procedures. However, due to hormonal changes during menopause, a successful pregnancy may require additional hormonal support, which can affect overall health, including heart condition and blood sugar levels.
Dr. Pallavi Vasal emphasizes that natural conception is not possible after the age of 50 and IVF is the main option. Due to increased risks of conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure, frequent doctor visits and tests are required in later pregnancies. There is also a higher chance of miscarriage, pregnancy loss, and premature birth. Babies born to older mothers may face health problems like Down syndrome.
Dr. Kalra explains further.
Dr. Yadav emphasizes the importance of carefully considering the risks involved in pregnancy at an older age and consulting a medical professional before making a decision. To maintain a healthy diet and weight gain during pregnancy, Dr. Vasal advises to leave the rest to medical care and luck for a healthy outcome.
DEATH :
On May 29, 2022, Moose Wala was tragically shot dead by unknown assailants in his car in Jawaharke village of Mansa. Initially, a gang led by Lawrence Bishnoi claimed responsibility for the murder in a Facebook post, but Bishnoi denied the post. By June 2022, he was arrested by the Punjab Police and considered the “mastermind” behind the killing of the officers.
According to the police, Moosewala along with his cousins and neighbors had left his house at around 4:30 pm to meet his aunt in Barnala. While driving his black Mahindra Thar SUV, he was stopped by two other cars at Jawaharlal Nehru at around 5:30 pm. During the fight, approximately thirty shots were fired, injuring two other people. Moose Walla fought back using his pistol. After the firing the attackers fled from the spot. His father Moosewala took him to Civil Hospital, Mansa, where he was declared dead.
The day before the incident, as part of preparations for the anniversary of Operation Blue Star, Moose Walla, along with 423 others, had their police protection reduced or removed altogether. As a result, he had only two commandos instead of the usual four. Interestingly, during the attack, Moosewala was traveling in his personal car with two companions instead of his bullet proof vehicle with the commando. According to his friends, he did not take his security team because his Thar SUV could not accommodate five people.
