The woman, who has not been named by authorities, is a popular travel blogger with more than 200,000 followers on Instagram. He and his partner were on a trip in the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand when something terrible happened.
They had stopped their two-wheelers and pitched a tent in Dumka district to spend the night. Suddenly a group of seven people attacked him. The attackers have been identified and the police are working to arrest the others.
A 28-year-old woman shared on her Instagram that she was beaten and robbed by men. She boldly said that the assailants wanted to rape her. Companions posted that he was hit on the head multiple times by the helmet and suffered a serious injury to his mouth.
Fortunately, a patrol car found him after the attack and took him to a nearby hospital. Before coming to India, the couple traveled to South Asia, which included a trip to Sri Lanka.
Sadly, such incidents are not uncommon in India especially for women from minority tribal communities. Many factors, such as cultural taboos and low conviction rates, make it difficult for victims to seek justice.
According to the National Crime Records Bureau, around 90 cases of rape are being reported in India every day in 2022. That means on average one woman is raped every 18 minutes. States like Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh have the highest number of cases.

According to the girl’s father, their neighbour, identified as Arvind Singh, barged into their house late on Monday night. He held her at gunpoint, assaulted her, then threw her from the terrace and fled from there.
The family rushed the girl to a nearby hospital, where she was diagnosed with serious injuries, including injuries to her spine and head. Later he was sent to Lala Lajpat Rai Medical College, Meerut for further treatment.
Meanwhile, the police have arrested the accused and charged him with rape, trespassing and causing hurt under the Indian Penal Code.
This disturbing incident comes days after the gruesome gang rape and murder of a 50-year-old Anganwadi worker in Badaun. The victim went missing after visiting the temple and was found to have been brutally assaulted and murdered. An autopsy report revealed the extent of his injuries, which included fractures and damage to internal organs, leading to his death from excessive bleeding and shock.
